Everyone has questions! Here are some of the questions that we have already been asked.
Yes, we have a lovely big show room and office in Great Baddow, Chelmsford. We have been on the same site for over 50 years.
We accept all major debit cards and credit cards (except American Express). We ask for a minimum of 25% when the order is placed and the balance to be paid just prior to delivery. All payments can be made in person in the shop or over the ‘phone, which ever suits you best. We can accept payment by bank transfer or cheque if you prefer but all payments must have cleared before delivery can be made.
Our furniture is nearly always cheaper because our overheads are much lower than other retailers. Our shop is 2 miles from the centre of Chelmsford so our rents and rates are much cheaper than our competitors. So, we can afford to sell our products at a much more competitive price, thereby giving the customer much better value for money.
Yes. You will nearly always pay much less for an item of furniture from us (on a ‘like for like’ basis) when compared to the price charged by shops on expensive retail parks or in the high street.
Some of our ranges are kept in stock and will normally be with you between 1 – 2 weeks after you have placed your order. Other ranges are made specially to order for you (due to choices of colour, handles etc.) and hence their lead times are longer. Very occasionally, and due to circumstances beyond our control, an ordered piece may be delayed. In these circumstances, we will contact you as soon as possible to let you know.
Not if you spend over £1,000 and live in Essex. For orders between £751 and £100 there is a £25 delivery charge and for orders under £750 we charge £50. These charges are only applicable to deliveries within the county of Essex. We do also deliver regularly to London, the Home Counties and sometimes further afield for customers who can’t find anyone quite like us in their ‘neck of the woods’. We’d be pleased to discuss delivery charges for orders to be delivered outside Essex.
Yes, we do.

Yes, all of the products come with a 1 year guarantee.
Yes, if you are buying from the same range, there will be no problems. If you are buying from two or more ranges and are concerned about your furniture matching, please feel free to call us during office hours on 01245 471726 when we will be very happy to talk to you and give you some expert guidance. Please understand that with oak and pine products, you are buying a natural product and each piece has its own natural grain variations and characteristics.
Painted furniture and upholstery, if purchased from the same range, will always match each other.
Yes, but oak less than pine. When exposed to the natural sunlight (UV) in your home, oak and pine get a little darker with time; this is a natural process. Don’t worry, after a little time this transition stops. Please note that the brighter the room, the quicker this transition takes place. Any furniture bought at a later date will at first appear lighter when compared to the original, but after a few weeks it will start to mellow and will soon end up blending in beautifully with your other furniture.
Don’t worry. This is nearly always self- correcting. The timber used to make your furniture has been kiln dried to make it stable and suitable for use in your home. Very occasionally, during transit, the furniture can pick up a little moisture from the surrounding environment and consequently, the furniture can swell a little. Once the furniture gets in to its new home, it settles down and the drawers (or doors) shrink back to their original size. If after 7 – 14 days this has not happened, please contact us when we will be able to help you.
Each piece of wooden furniture has its own unique grain variations and characteristics. This is quite normal. Some of our ranges also have varying degrees of distressing generally applied. This is very much intended and makes each piece totally individual and unique.
Don’t worry, the wardrobe is not faulty. Floors in bedrooms are never totally flat. Floorboards, carpets, carpet grippers etc. can sometimes throw the wardrobe out a little so it is not quite level which means the doors appear out of alignment with each other. All that is required to remedy this problem is to put a little packing under the foot of one of the corners of the wardrobe and Hey Presto, the doors line up. It may be necessary to put a little weight in the wardrobe (as if it is already in use with clothes in) in order to help set the doors just right.
Sometimes, after a few weeks of use, the timber on the bed contracts a little and thereby leaves a small amount of play on the bed. Just re-tighten the fittings and your problem should be remedied permanently.
Yes, this is all included in our service.
Of course, it is all included in our service. Please, just ask the delivery team at the time of delivery.
